Emergency Exit Light Testing

Automated External Defibrillators

Automated External Defibrillators, commonly known as AEDs, are lightweight and portable medical devices that deliver an electric shock through the chest of a person suffering from cardiac arrest. The presence of an AED can mean the difference between life and death for a person suffering from cardiac arrest.

Why are they important?

As mentioned above, AEDs can mean life or death for a person experiencing cardiac arrest. The proper use of an AED significantly improves the chance of surviving, as the victim's chance of doing so drops by roughly 7-10% every minute they are incapacitated. Their portable nature allows them to be used by non medical people, and most often have an automated walkthrough process and visual instructions to ensure their proper deployment. AEDs also diagnose cardiac arrest so that they are not used improperly. Coupled with the rapid use of 911 and a prompt CPR delivery, AEDs are a useful and arguably necessary part of any emergency response plan.

How do AEDs work?

With a computer built-in, AEDs are able to check the heart rhythm of a victim through adhesive electrodes. These electrodes determine whether or not defibrillation is needed. If it is, a recorded and automated voice instructs the deployer to press the clearly labeled shock button on the AED. This shock temporarily stuns the heart, stopping all activity. This pause gives the heart a chance to resume an effective beating pattern. Written instructions also guide the user through the entire process.

Automatic Fire Suppression Systems

Automatic Fire Suppression Systems are, by design, systems that can control and extinguish fires without human interaction. In industrial and commercial settings, an unchecked fire remains one of the greatest threats to life and assets. Automatic fire suppression systems are able to provide fast and reliable protection against fires of most origins, and can do so without the need to be manually operated by a person. Because of this, an automatic fire suppression system can allow for the expedient evacuation of personnel while assets are protected.

How do they work?

Automatic fire suppression systems detect traces of fires, and act and deliver fire suppression accordingly. Most AFS Systems detect through either mechanical or electrical means, and in both cases test for a fluctuation in heat. At a specific temperature, the system activates, usually deploying a pressurized water/chemical component through pipes and sprinkler heads. These systems can be paired with a fire alarm system to aid in the prompt evacuation of a fire site.

Special Hazards Capabilities

We offer trained technicians who install, service and inspect special hazards systems such as FM200 Systems, CO2 Systems and high expansion foam suppression systems. Special hazards are used when the environment is very high-risk or prone to damage from traditional fire sprinkler systems.

Proper installation and follow-up service and inspection of fire protection, suppression and alarm systems are the keys to a successful operation of the system if an emergency situation should arise. Our field and design technicians are frequently adjusting and learning about the changes that occur in Federal and State regulations and the requirements of the insurance industry. We also maintain close contact with equipment manufacturers so we can allow our customers to take advantage of the latest available technology, new equipment and fire protection installation techniques.

Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems

Don't let a kitchen fire become a recipe for disaster!

You should never use water on a grease fire. The proper way to extinguish a fire of that nature is to remove the source of fuel and to smother the flames. Your kitchen suppression system is designed to do just that. Fire guys Systems division offers installation and service to keep your system working effectively and reliably and in compliance according to UL300 specifications.

Our System technicians are trained and certified to design, install, and routinely service your kitchen suppression system; including recharge, maintenance and hydrostatic testing of your system tanks.

Suppression systems that are not serviced on a regular basis can become serious fire hazards to your employees, your customers, and your facility.

Why Would I Need a New Fire System?

Restaurant cooking equipment emissions are generally contaminated with vaporized grease and other fuels that can ignite a potential fire. That is why a Fire Suppression System is a critical component to a restaurant exhaust system. At the FIRE GUYS, we conduct a complete survey of your site and design a system best suited for your fire protection needs. Our Fire Suppression Services always include "in house" system design by our certified professionals, a complete set of fire system drawings with a floor plan, fire system plan review with the authority having jurisdiction, and a fire system test upon completion.

UL300 Standard:

All kitchen fire suppression systems manufactured after 1994 must comply with the UL 300 standard to account for increased commercial cooking times and temperatures. Dry chemical kitchen systems have been replaced with wet systems to accommodate hotter and longer cooking times.
